Everytime a pleasure – As a wedding photographer on the island of Sylt

If sun is shining in your face in the morning, the sky is mirroring in the sea and you are pretty sure that it is going to be a great day, you can tell that I am back on the island of Sylt.

Well, the probability that it can be the other way round is pretty high when traveling to Sylt at the end of March. But this day was supposed to be our day – for the wedding couple and for the wedding photographer. For wedding portraits I had these very nice locations in my mind that I have not been to yet neither. For example one of them was next to the old pines even though we had to climb a hillside – but it was worth it. I also had my new 20/1.4 by Sigma with me (Brides, no worries, just keep reading I am switching to Jimmy Choo Shoes soon). My new favorite wedding lens. Very sharp and very good to use even though when the weather is bad.

But as I have promised, let’s switch to Jimmy Choo. Sparkle, sparkle, sparkle ….The shoes were very eye-catching as well as the beautiful gown. In addition to that I was very happy about my nice wedding favor and all the prepared vegan snacks that I really appreciated. 14 hours later full of great impressions I fell totally exhausted on my bed for a short night to head out to the Syltshuttle, lining up with tons of other people that were about to depart in the morning.

A Journey to Cuba II

I was traveling to Cuba having this strong intention in mind not to take pictures of road cruisers. This did last for like two hours. There are so many old vehicles determining the streetscapes and being quite impressive. The minority are originals, spare parts are not available because of the American Embargo so that people are dependent on their car repairing skills. Most of the vehicles are pimped by Russian spare parts no matter if we talk about rims, engines or interior designs. Lada car dashboards are not rare. Furthermore Russian vehicles or some old German cars from the eastern production are also easy to find in the appearance of the streets.

So what to do with the shots that I normally did not intent to take? Well, I will show you – Have fun and enjoy browsing.

A close wedding on the island of Sylt

This is a short throwback to summer. Salty and warm air and my favorite island Sylt. A couple, the lighthouse keeper, his wife, the registrar, the wedding photographer. So less but still so much. A lot of sentiments, intensity, no distraction. Reduced to the most that matters: Love, Togetherness.
Have fun seeking in.

Wedding at the Heinepark Residence

The wedding kind of started very strangely as I was told by the groom two hours before the ceremony was supposed to start that the mother of the make up artist called saying she was sick. Being skipped out I had no other choice as researching for an alternative in my well working vendor network as quick as possible because I am only able to do make ups for carnival occasions -that’s it. But on a Saturday morning in summer it is almost impossible to find a good one as they are either booked or pregnant. Fortunately my lovely colleague Anna Brinkmann being in the industry and doing nothing else than realizing unique weddings, could help me out. After a few phone calls she had a solution and I was able to calm down the bride finally. With a perfect Make Up finish the wedding could start and the day ended up beautiful and smoothly without any unforeseen surprises.

Bildpoeten Meet and Greet Mallorca 2015

Right now posting you from Mallorca sitting in the morning sun of Can Torna and thinking of the last couple days. Three days of intense and creative exchange with other highly appreciated wedding photographers. This meeting takes place every year in November and is always getting better. Long late night talks, getting to know different perspectives and approaches, revising your own work and taking hints and feedback into consideration helps to identify your position and to improve yourself.
After having filmed most of the time in the last year, I started taking shots with the camera again.
Big thank you to my colleagues Luis, Daniela, Björn & Jessy, Till, Yannic & Susann, Kathrin & Simon, Hanna, Guido, Anne & Björn, Yvonne, Roland, Sergey, Manuel and of course Moni.

Wedding at the beach of Sylt

A beach wedding is a great option for wedding couples getting married on the northern islands of Germany (Nordseeinslen) such as Sylt, Langeoog, Amrum or Föhr. As wedding photographer I am always looking forward to a beach wedding as it is totally different to a wedding in a church or at the civil registry office. But convince yourself by looking at the following pictures.
